How it started

In January 2004 one of the clients of Instant Interfaces strongly requested for a solution to reduce the loading time of the site. Instant Interfaces already had a new infrastructure on the agenda to reduce the amount of code required to build Rich Internet Applications in Flash.

Thus the Fluid Flash Interfaces was born.

The original code was written by Peter Kaptein, Instant Interfaces.

The first FFIE site went online in Juli 2004, nine months later.

The first version for Open Source was put on SourceForge in August 2004

Originally the FFIE was created with the following goals in mind:

  • To reduce the size of the Flash movie
  • To eliminate the loading site, pleas wait time
  • To reduce the amount of code required for a Rich Internet Application
  • To simplify creating and maintaining Rich Internet Applications

Currently the focus lies on expanding the library, the graphical options and increasing performance of data loading and data parsing.
